What is Browplasty?
Browplasty or forehead lift is a cosmetic surgery that is performed to correct heavy eyelids and drooping eyebrows and to smooth out wrinkles on the forehead. It is often performed along with other procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and facelift surgery.
Procedure of Browplasty
Browplasty is performed on an outpatient basis, under local or general anesthesia. Your surgeon will make an incision from the level of the ears, along the natural hairline. Instead of one long incision (open technique), smaller incisions can be made using an endoscope (fiber-optic tube with a lighted camera attached). The forehead skin is pulled up and excess skin is removed. The muscles at the upper part of the nose forming the frown lines and forehead wrinkles may also be adjusted. The incisions are then closed with stitches or staples. You may experience bruising and swelling for a few days, which will gradually subside. Follow your surgeon's instructions for a successful outcome.
